About Us

Celebrating 30 Years of Caring for Children, Supporting Families, and Serving Our Community
Choosing a daycare or preschool is one of the most important decisions a parent can make. You’re not simply looking for a place to drop your child off during the day. You’re looking for a place where they’ll be safe, loved, encouraged, and cared for by people who genuinely want to see them thrive. That’s exactly what we’ve been striving to provide for the past 30 years.

At Roots and Wings Academy, we are a Christian childcare organization that was founded because we saw a need in our community for high-quality childcare that families could trust. What started as a desire to help local families has grown into a network of six locations serving children from 6 weeks to 13 years old throughout East Tennessee. Through every stage of growth, our mission has remained the same: to provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and feel loved while giving parents peace of mind each day they walk through our doors.

A Ministry of Care – Not Just Childcare

When people hear that we’re a Christian daycare and preschool, they sometimes wonder what that means for their family. For us, it means treating every child with kindness, respect, patience, and love while incorporating Christian values and teachings into our curriculum.

At the same time, we proudly welcome families from all backgrounds, faiths, and family structures. Our doors are open to anyone who feels comfortable with our program and educational approach. We believe every child deserves a place where they can feel safe, accepted, and encouraged to become the best version of themselves.

Our goal isn’t simply to prepare children academically. It’s to help build strong character, confidence, compassion, and a love for learning that will serve them throughout their lives.

Bright Beginnings Await

A Place Where Children Can Grow at Every Stage

One of the things families appreciate most about Roots and Wings is that we’re able to support children through many different stages of childhood. We care for infants as young as six weeks old, toddlers discovering the world around them, preschoolers preparing for kindergarten, and school-age children who need before-school care, after-school care, and summer care programs.

As children grow, their needs change. That’s why we’ve worked hard to create programs that support cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development at every age level. Our curriculum is designed to be educational, engaging, and fun, helping children build foundational skills while still allowing them to enjoy being kids. After all, some of the most important learning happens through exploration, play, friendships, and new experiences.

More Than a Daycare

We’re Part of the Community
For three decades, we’ve had the privilege of serving generations of families throughout our communities. In many cases, children who once attended Roots and Wings have grown up and returned as parents themselves. Those relationships mean the world to us because they reflect the trust families have placed in us over the years.

We don’t view ourselves as simply a childcare provider. We see ourselves as a partner to parents and an active part of the communities we serve. Whether we’re helping prepare children for kindergarten, providing dependable care for working families, or creating opportunities for children to learn about faith, friendship, and responsibility, we know the impact of quality childcare extends far beyond our classroom walls.

Meet the Leadership Team Behind Roots and Wings

Many members of our leadership team have spent a decade or more with Roots and Wings, and several are second-generation leaders who grew up around the organization and now help shape its future. Together, they bring decades of experience in early childhood education, childcare administration, curriculum development, transportation, and family support.
